Esther’s Kitchen is Really Good but…

I learned about Esther’s Kitchen while watching the Vegas episode of “Somebody Feed Phil”, and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is Italian focused, but the dishes are not traditional, and very interesting. Its a big restaurant and very busy. You should reserve in advance. Our server proudly told us everything is made from scratch. My kind of place. We started with the Cauliflower Alla Romana which was completely delicious. The flavors almost reminded me of that salt/pepper/spicy squid that many Chinese restaurants prepare. Tons of flavor.

Next, the beef tartare. I was informed that some elements from the previous dish were also incorporated into this dish. Although not as savory as the cauliflower, still a solid dish. The basil was very fresh.

These two dishes came out fairly quickly, and then for some reason, the service slowed significantly to the point where it became evident that there was something off somewhere. The table beside us got their mains before us, but sat AFTER us, a big pet peeve for me. When the food finally came out, I had two opposing thoughts: #1 the food was cold (not freezing cold, but it was obvious it had sat at the pass for some time), and #2 it was still VERY delicious. This was the pork chop with butcher beans. I also had the leftovers the next day and it was still delicious. If it had been served warmer and faster, it would of been outstanding.

I also had the TORTELLINI with clams, bacon, potato, and leeks. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but again, temp wise, it was colder than it should of been. The portion of clams in the dish was also very generous.

When dessert came around we skipped it because we didn’t want to wait any longer but there were some things on the menu I’d definitely order. Overall, service was good other than the long wait. The food was incredible flavor wise. Perhaps they just had one of those nights, but I would definitely come back to try the other food and would recommend as well. That’s how good it was!
