Having been to LPM in Cyprus and Miami, I decided to check out LPM Vegas, which has been open for about 6 months, and is in the Cosmopolitan hotel where Milos used to be. The experience in Cyprus was really good. The Miami location’s food was ok, but the Tomatini, to me, is one of the best cocktails in the world; and that’s what I started with in Vegas. As with my other experiences, it was really good though the Vegas one was SLIGHTLY unbalanced. Still really good. We started with escargot and calamari. Both dishes took forever to arrive. Our RSVP was at 9PM, it took a few minutes to be seated (no idea why as the place was not busy; I find that the hostesses in Vegas are getting really bad at managing reservations as its a recurring theme now that either seating takes forever or there is an issue with table assignments). The calamari got to the table at 9:35PM while the escargot arrived at 9:53PM; almost 1 hour after our RSVP time – for appetizers! The calamari was ok, but would of been better with some kind of dip. The escargot was very good and I ate more bread than usual to sop up all the sauce.

The next dishes, the homemade pasta with ragu sauce, whole sea bream and side of broccolini did not arrive until 10:35PM! Other than being very late to arrive, the service was out of order. We wanted a pasta course prior to the main but everything came out at once. Despite a lot of follow up with our server, he had no clue what was happening. Eventually, a manager came out to apologize and said all mains would be comp’d. He said the kitchen messed up and the wrong food was sent to the wrong table which then threw the whole service off. I still don’t know exactly what happened but regarding the food, it was good. The fish and pasta were good. It was a shame the service was so bad. I’d rather have a great evening than free food. Free food doesn’t compensate for the loss of time, and ruined evening, even though its a nice gesture from the restaurant.

Overall, service was horrible, but the food was good. The tomatini was good like other LPMs. On their website, they say “From the moment you step through our doors, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality, where every bite tells a story of quality and passion”. I’d say we experienced the opposite of hospitality, and would never return to this location. However, the tomatini is so good, I’d probably drop in to have it in another city.
