Experience La Dolce Vita at Il Baretto Milan

The Italians have a saying “La Dolce Vitta”; which translates into “the Sweet Life”. Any trip to Italy will make one understand why. The beautiful architecture, the amazing food, the well dressed people, and a general sense of enjoyment wandering the streets. On a recent trip to Milan, I could not of experience this more than by having lunch at Il Baretto. Its a fairly new restaurant serving classic local dishes in a beautiful environment. We had a great seat on the garden patio.

Here was the menu:

The meal started with some bread, culatello and a negroni. As I settled in and look around at the surroundings, the garden, the food in front of me, and the beautifully dressed people around me, I had an overwhelming sense that THIS is what La Dolce Vita was all about.

For our pasta course we shared tagliatelle with a white veal sauce. It was very good but I remember wanting the pasta slightly more al dente.

For the main, we shared the ossobuco with Milanese risotto. It was as good as it looks, with a piece of bone marrow.

To finish the meal, tiramisu and then espresso with the restaurant providing some petit fours.

Overall, the ambiance, food and service came together in one harmonious afternoon. I would return and recommend this place.
