On a recent trip to Milan, a city I had not visited for about 8 years, I knew I wanted to have two classic dishes the city is known for: 1. Milanese risotto and 2. veal cutlet. I settled on Osteria Brunello as they had both on the menu. Here was the menu that evening:

The dinner started with an amuse:

…and then we started with culatello…

..and then the star of the evening, the risotto:

It did not disappoint. Creamy and savory, the dish was delicious. On the other had, I found the veal cutlet to be just average.

While it was well breaded and prepared, it lacked flavor and I felt it could of used more seasoning. I prefer the Austrian version.
Overall, the service was ok. I would return for the risotto but not the cutlet. However, if its your first time in Milan, you should probably try it once. Lastly, the restaurant is in a really lively and walking friendly area with lots of bars and restaurants so if that’s your thing, its a good place to have after dinner drinks. The restaurant recommended a bar close by called Chinese Box and it was an ok spot for drinks.
