Lazy Betty did not impress

Lazy Betty is a highly rated (actually, very highly rated) tasting menu restaurant located in Atlanta. Here was the menu that evening.

To start, they brought some bread.

The amuse is an opportunity for the kitchen to “punch you in the face” with flavor and set the tone for the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, these amuse were disappointing. The puff mushroom had strong flavor but bad texture. The cucumber avocado with togarashi lacked flavor and wasnt that interesting. The trout pate was ok.

Next a scallop crudo that was just average.

A foie gras and strawberry terrine where all I tasted was strawberry overpowering everything else.

The asparagus.

This sunchoke pasta with uni was one of the things on the menu I was really looking forward to and its one of the only things that was pretty good. There was good use of acidity and everything worked well together. I only wish the pasta was cooked more al dente.

Roasted monkfish

Duck

Some desserts.

Overall, service was ok but the setting is a bit odd; it seems to be some sort of garage. The food is ok, and I rarely comment on price, but if I think about 7 course tasting menus I’ve had around the world at similar price points, and how this stacks up, then this was a disappointing meal. I would not recommend nor return.
