Stubborn Seed – Poor Service from High Caliber Restaurant

Stubborn Seed is a highly rated restaurant in Miami. The chef was the winner of Top Chef Season 13. These days, a lot of big name restaurants from places like New York are opening in Miami. Places like Carbone and Cote to name a few. Stubborn Seed still has a small local feel to it. The dining room is small relative to some of the other places I previously mentioned. This is a nice change if you are looking for an intimate dinner.

Here was the menu the night we went.

Usually, when we go to a new place, I like to try the tasting menu if one is available. In this case, I’m glad I didn’t. The service was extremely slow. Not only that, but a table beside us that sat maybe an hour after us, received multiple courses while we waited for our food and had 3-4 staff constantly providing service. Its too bad, because the food WAS good. However, the lack of service completely ruined the evening so I did not take pictures of all the dishes. Here are a couple:

The second was the Mezcal Salmon and I don’t remember the first. To the restaurant’s credit, they comp’d our drinks and the manager came out to apologize after I had complained. I explained that I did not want anything comp’d but they took the drinks off anyway. He reached out again by email to invite us back again. However, for a restaurant of this caliber, this should not of happened. I can understand when places get slammed or the kitchen is having an off night, but as the table next to us did not look like it was having the same issues, I think this was just a case of the restaurant forgetting about some tables. Also, when I looked in the Google reviews, there have been prior issues with this. So I don’t think it was a one off thing. Therefore, overall, food good; service very poor.
