Anna Lena put on an incredible sports themed dinner this week. Here was the menu:
The meal started with one of the staff bringing around a drink similar to what you would find at a sporting event. Clever.
Rugby – The first course was a lamb meat pie with mushroom gravy. The pie was delicious and the gravy full of flavor though a bit salty. The crust, perfectly buttery and flaky. I would of happily ate this all night long.
Baseball – Sunflower seeds and salad with a mustard chip. The chip was delicious. Full of flavor.
Basketball – Beef tartare “hamburger”. There are two reasons why this dish was amazing. First, just like the dishes before it, it was so good. Second, the chef handmade each basketball bowl. That is attention to detail, effort, and love.
Hockey – The hockey course consisted of octopus and brussel sprouts. Why octopus and hockey? Apparently, as the server explained, Detroit Red Wing fans sneak octopus into the stadium to throw on the ice.
Soccer – Sausage, Beer, Muscles, and pretzels with blue cheese butter. You guessed it, delicious.
Cricket – Fish and Chips. Great sauce, extremely fresh, moist fish, perfect batter.
Football – Tailgate brisket. At this point, I was so full, I tried the dish and had to take the rest to go.
Tennis – Strawberries and Cream. Apparently, this is what they eat at Wimbleton.
…and lastly, something to take home. The restaurant made some granola and had it custom packed for people to have for breakfast. Very nice touch.
Service was perfect. Again, Anna Lena demonstrates that it is putting out some world class meals. If I had to give feedback, it would be to have black and white napkins. I once dined at a place in Hawaii that gave me a black napkin and the other guests white. The reason? I was wearing a black shirt and they know that white napkins leave lint all over.10/10
