Another Win at South Point – Silverado Steakhouse and Great Entertainment

I recently wrote about the great experience I had at Primarily Prime Rib and South Point Casino in general. As a result, I decided to check out some of their other venues and entertainment this past Saturday. The result could not of been better.

I started with dinner at Silverado Steakhouse. I have had some disappointing steakhouse experiences recently; mainly due to poor service. However, Silverado continued the positive vibes I had last week at Primarily Prime Rib. The atmosphere was an old school steakhouse without pretentiousness. Service was very attentive, efficient and friendly. They brought some bread to start. It was fresh and warm.

The shrimp cocktail was plump and juicy. The cocktail sauce and horseradish were perfect.

The steak (a ribeye) was cooked med rare, tender and flavorful. The seasoning bordered on aggressive and over, but was still delicious. A touch less seasoning would of made it near perfect.

For dessert, we had the beignets. The only other time I’ve had beignets was in New Orleans but many many years ago so I can’t compare to the original, but these were tasty and served with chocolate sauce and blueberry sauce. They were like warm pillowy churros.

After dinner, I checked out the dueling pianos at the Grandview Lounge. I ordered a Manhattan and paud $7!!! I don’t know why this place wasn’t busier. The entertainment was great and the drinks were well priced.

Later in the evening, I had tickets for the Spazmatics 80s show. I think I paid about $15 per person WITH A DRINK! The seat was a plush booth on the side of the stage. This type of value is how Vegas used to be and you can find it all at South Point. I’m a huge fan of this place.

If you like table games, South Point also has 2:1 blackjack with lower limits. Overall, I’ve had positive experiences at South Point. From the food to the things to do, its a great option if you feel like the prices on the Strip are too high.

If you travel as much as I do, staying connected is non-negotiable. Buying and switching physical SIM cards is a hassle and while eSIMs are generally a great option, many of them require you to create a new profile by scanning a QR code every time you cross a border.

Consider Truely (CODE: foodfinancetravel10 for 10% off) because they handle this differently with something called Switchless® technology.

Switchless®  means you install a Truely eSIM once, and it stays on your phone forever. It acts as a universal digital gateway. Whether you are landing in Tokyo, Paris, or New York, the eSIM automatically detects your location and connects to the best local network in seconds.

Why is this a game-changer?

Install Once, Use Forever: You never have to scan a QR code or mess with settings again. Just buy a data plan for your next destination, and it automatically activates on your existing Truely eSIM.

Smart Network Switching: Their technology actively scans for the strongest signal. If one network is weak, it invisibly switches you to a better one.

Instant Connection: Because the eSIM is already on your phone, you get internet the moment the plane wheels touch the tarmac. No airport WiFi required.

If you want to try it out, you can use my code foodfinancetravel10 to get 10% off your first plan.
