Surprise! Diner Ross was highly memorable

I didn’t have high expectations for Diner Ross in the Linq hotel, but I left feeling amazed by the experience. In fact, I’m going back today. My wife used Groupon to book a dinner at Diner Ross for after the Disco Show which is basically all in the same venue. I don’t know the exact details of the deal, but lets talk about the show first. Once you enter, the first area is kind of like a New York City subway bar. We had some drinks there before the show. I had the Beijing something which was too sweet.

The atmosphere was great with lots going on all around including cast members in costume interacting with guests.

After some time, you will be brought upstairs to another bar with a more disco theme. There you will find roller skaters again interacting with guests.

When the show is ready to start, you are brought into a disco room and the show is about 1 hour and interactive.

There’s no real story for the show. Its basically just a bunch of dance sets. It was unique, but not one of the better shows I’ve seen. I don’t regret going though as I think its a unique enough experience to do once.

After the show is where most of the magic begins. Diner Ross is located in the same venue and the inside feels like a retro diner. Its really well done. All the meals start with popovers which are yorkshire pudding basically. The texture was warm and fluffy and they were ok, but I would of preferred more fat content for fuller flavor although they did provide butter.

For starter, we shared the bone marrow bites which were very unique. I’m glad that the kitchen was putting thought into this menu and not just serving a bunch of expected items like Buffalo wings.

The mains were surprisingly outstanding! First, the steak frittes were well seasoned, tender, and had a very savory sauce/gravy. Fries were crispy enough.

The burger was incredible. A good bun, perfectly cooked med-rare patty, grill flavor, well seasoned, and everything just worked well together. To top it off, they gave you a side of gravy to dip.

For dessert, tres leches chai spiced. Flavor was good, but I think it should of been served more “wet” and colder.

Overall, service was really friendly and efficient. Food was good to outstanding. The drinks were also really good as was the California cab our server brought which paired so well with the burger and steak. As mentioned above, we’re going back right away and I would highly recommend. Its a fun atmosphere with good food and good service.
