I don’t usually search for places to eat breakfast. Unlike lunch or dinner, to me, breakfast food is pretty much all the same, and I prefer eating a simple, small, “healthier” breakfast anyway. However, occasionally, depending on the city I’m in, I do enjoy a good brunch scene. Usually a place with some kind of bottomless brunch beverages and a party like atmosphere However, when searching for these places, I usually resign myself to the fact that I’m going more for the atmosphere and crowd than the actual food.
This line of thinking brought me to Audio Bar in Las Vegas over the weekend for brunch. I was looking for a place with a nice party scene to enjoy some food. While I was disappointed by the scene, the food blew me away which was totally unexpected! I had the breakfast burrito:
I find breakfast burritos pretty much the same everywhere I go so I wasn’t expecting much here, but I was so blown away by this one. As a side note, the one exception to this is the breakfast burrito at Mcdonalds which is a guilty pleasure of mine (that is before they changed the tortilla to be whole wheat from white – note to Mcdonalds – on the rare occasion I eat your food, I am looking for a treat, and I know its not the healthiest option out there, but that’s the point, so when you mess with a perfect product by changing the tortilla to whole wheat which changes the texture and taste, it totally ruins it). Anyway, back to the Audio Bar burrito: the bacon in it was perfectly crisp and salty; the eggs were super fluffy; the cheese was so perfectly melted and warm; the tortilla was also perfectly crisp and had a grilled flavor; all this was brought together by a chipotle cream that was rich and smooth and SO savory. There were also potatoes inside which just added filler, I would reduce them; and they also provided some pico de gallo which added freshness to each bite, but they could of gave more (it came in a small 1-2 oz sauce container). Taken as a whole, each bite was irresistibly good. They kind of good that has you pausing to curse with each bite. My wife got a sampler platter which had cinnamon buns which were the only things on her plate I tried. They too were really well executed. The amount of cinnamon sugar they put was perfect. I feel like a lot of places do not use enough cinnamon.
Overall, service was just ok. Very casual and informal but they could of been quicker and more attentive. For example, I had to ask for water and utensils etc. There was a DJ playing good music but this was not the scene I was looking for. I think it changes based on the music and DJ so you should check before going if that matters to you. However, all this was rectified by that glorious breakfast burrito. I will be back for it and recommend you try it yourself.
