Golden Steer is a steakhouse in Vegas that is very popular. It has a long history in the city, and a lot of famous people have come through the doors, as the servers will proudly tell you. The interior has an old school steakhouse vibe which I personally like. I have heard about difficulty booking this place, but luckily, I was able to do it online for the time and day I wanted. There are two issues I have with this restaurant. First, its the kind of place where the vibe that is given off is that you are lucky to be eating there. We were 5 minutes early for our reservation, but they did not seat us until 15-20 minutes past. As mentioned in a previous post (Zatinya), this is fine with me as I understand that sometimes, things happen. However, its how staff handle the lateness which will decided if its acceptable or not. Second, I found the food just ok. We started with the shrimp and garlic butter which was pretty good:
…and escargot which was just ok…
We also had the tableside Caesar which was also just ok.
For the main event, the steak, I would rate it as good, but nothing particularly memorable or outstanding about it.
The sides were decent.
Overall, service was slow and not so attentive. Food ranged from ok to good, but there are better places for steak like Bazaar Meat. I would not return or recommend.
