Today, I am going to tell you about a restaurant that has the most beautiful and perfect setting of any restaurant I have been to. Its the kind of place you bring a date, or anyone for that matter, if you want to impress them; I mean blow them away. Usually, there is an inverse correlation between a nice view and food quality, but not at this place. The view is amazing, and so is the food. The place is called Nusara. A Michelin recommended (though it really should have a star), and #6 on Asia’s 50 Best list, Thai restaurant located in Bangkok.

Before I show you why the setting is so amazing, lets talk about first walking in. There is a gorgeous bar downstairs to the left once you walk in:

This bar alone is worthy a drop in for a drink if you are in the neighborhood. However, its upstairs where you will be blown away. Just look at this table setting:

That’s right, the restaurant is located directly across from Wat Pho! Sitting at our table was a nice 3D pop up welcome card:

…and the evening’s tasting menu:

The meal started with some amuse. I also had the drink pairing and was pleased to learn a lot about local Thai liquors such as this one, which is very similar to sake:

With many of the dishes, the staff would also bring out some of the raw ingredients used, and explain about each:

Here’s another peak at the amazing view in the backdrop of one of the straters:

For the entire meal, I just kept looking back and forth bewteen the food, and the view outside. You should note that while I believe all the tables can see the view, not all are “front row” so if that’s important to you, try to specify it in your RSVP (but I think they will give a boilerplate response that they cannot guarantee, but its worth asking).

I almost forgot to talk about the food! To be honest, I was enjoying New Years day with the fam, and then view, so I took very few notes. However, I can say I was impressed with the food, as was everyone else in my party, and one stand out dish from the early part of the meal was the squid. The grill taste of the squid was totally perfect!

We now move on to the main part of the meal:

This Panang curry & brisket was really good:

…and this was the wagyu and basil:

The meal then continued to dessert:

Overall, this was an amazing meal, not just because of the setting, but the food and service were really good also. I don’t recall having any “off dishes”. However, at the very end of the meal, things went sideways when it was time to pay. First, everything is prepaid, and only extra drinks should be charged. When I got the bill, I gave my credit card and trusted they would charge correctly. However, after reviewing the final receipt, I saw that they charged me not just for the extra drinks, but a couple tasting menus that were already prepaid. According to the restaurant, they cannot simply reverse the charges. I had to supply a bunch of info to them and after almost a month, I still have not received any refund! These total close to $1,000! Because of this, I would not recommend or return. Its too bad that they ruined an amazing experience with such unprofessional billing practices.
