Bravo is a newish restaurant in Vancouver that I came across through the Michelin guide. Its about 1+ years old, and is in the old Ubuntu space. The menu showcases seafood. Here was the menu the evening I went:

We had a nice table beside the open kitchen.

We started with a dozen Westcoast oysters. They came with a hot (red) and savory (green) sauce. While the oysters were delicious, I didn’t like the sauces too much. The green one lacked flavor and the red one was just ok. I thought the oysters were better with the sauce that came with the salmon dish (see below):

Along with the oysters, we had the salmon and hiramasa. The fish is aged in house. The salmon was very delicious. Nice and fatty and the sauce had good Asian flavors. The hiramasa was also good, but I preferred the salmon.

Next, we had the tuna toast which was also delicious. Good flavors on the fish and the bread was perfectly toasted.

Next, fish dip with some lavash (basically crackers). The fish dip was really good, very well smoked. However, the lavash was stale.

For our mains, we had the seared scallops which were good, especially with the accompaniments:

Lastly, we had the tagliolini. It was delicious with a hint of heat. The flavors were perfect. Very very good. The only issue was the pasta was a bit over cooked.

Overall, service was good and the food was good except for the details I mentioned. If they fix these, it will be near perfect. The only thing I think people may have an issue with is the cost. I normally never mention that cost of meals because I appreciate the food, artistic value, and various other aspects of the meal, but I think some people may find 5 scallops for over $40 a bit pricey. I don’t blame the restaurant. I think the province’s policies have increased costs for businesses, and this is the result. I would go back, and recommend. I hope to see a tasting menu one day too.
