On a recent trip to Dubai, I had lunch at Salt which is a hamburger restaurant with a few locations in Dubai. It reminded me a bit of Shake Shack. I recommend going to the location near the Burj, because they have a rooftop dining area with a view like this:

We had the original slider which was good, but small; so we ordered another. We also had the salt and vinegar fries which were good.

Overall, service is really slow, but the food is good, especially since its a local restaurant, I think they did a good job of producing a quality burger. I would go back and recommend. One place I would not recommend is Wokyo. This is a fast casual Asian noodle restaurant. We ordered ramen and the wok bowl. The bowl is basically a dish where you choose a sauce, noodle type, protein, and other options.

Both dishes were below average. They lacked flavor and depth. I was surprised as the chef at Hoseki had recommended this spot to us. Service was also slow. If you are looking for a good bowl of ramen in Dubai, I recommend Kinoya instead.
For today’s finance related thought of the day, a recent media article has shined light on something I have suspected all along. Google’s dominance in search is eventually being questioned by newer search methods like AI (chatgpt) and Reddit. For example, 2 years ago, I used Google 100% for all my searches. However, now, I find myself increasingly using chatgpt for a lot of things I want to know about. Google is still tops if you need up to date info like “what is the current temperature?”. However, I will use chatgpt when I want to know something more fact based. As for Reddit, a lot of Google searches now add the word “Reddit”. I find myself doing this when I want an opinion on something. For example, I was recently interested in a sleeping mouthguard I saw on social media. I searched for “mouthguard ABC Reddit” in order to review people’s experience with the product. What about you? What other search tools do you use, and what do you think will happen to Google’s dominance in the future?
