Orfali Brothers – Creating Flavor and Something New…

Before I start today’s post, I am going to tell you about something completely random and unrelated. Since this blog is called Food Finance Travel, a reader recently asked me why there is nothing posted about finance. Therefore, starting today, at the end of every post, I am going to mention up to 3 interesting things I read about during the day. This is not meant as investment advice, but just some things I read about that were interesting, and could be used as a starting point to do more research into potential investment ideas. Anyway, today’s post is about Orfali brothers which is a restaurant in Dubai, which is also included in the Michelin Guide as a Bib Gourmand, and ranked #1 in the Middle East and North Africa by the 50 Best Restaurants List.

We sat just in front of the open kitchen. Here was the menu for the evening; note that I don’t think they serve alcohol. I wasn’t drinking this night anyway so I did not confirm, but I didn’t see anyone drinking and did not see it on their menu.

The first bite we had was the corn bomb. It was the perfect bite. So much umami and the flavors just worked so well together. It was harmony in a bite.

Next, the caviar bun which was also very good.

The next few items ranged from just ok to good:

I found the above kebabs, “Take me to Aleppo”, which everyone raves about, was just ok. However, I did enjoy the cheeseburger.

One cool thing about this place is that they make French pastries in a kitchen above the restaurant, and they are on full display for you to choose after your main meal.

Overall, service was good, and food ranged from mind blowing to OK. There are a lot of items I want to come back to try like the Pide. I would also recommend this place if you are looking for something unique, combining some local/Middle East flavors, with more creative items.

Now, for something interesting I read today. This is regarding Corning, yes the people that make these:

Corning’s stock has risen about 28.2% this year as investors see it as an AI play. In addition to the containers we all know, their glass is used to make firberoptic cables which is used in AI data centers….
