A must see in Jordan day trip from Amman, a must avoid and where to get a cheap but good Shawarma

Before I tell you where you can get a quick, cheap and delicious Shawarma in Amman, Jordan, I want to tell you about the historic ruins at Jerash and why you should do the day trip from Amman. We rented a car and drove about 45 minutes to reach the site. The ONLY downside about this place, was the heat – it was HOT! However, once you approach the entrance, you will be greeted by this:

…followed by the most impressive circular columns I have ever witnessed (these pictures dont do it justice, you have to see it for yourself).

Then there is long ancient roadway lined with more columns and ruins on both sides.

The roadway leads to an ampitheater and more ruins.

After Jerash, we proceeded to drive another 25 minutes to Ajloun Castle. I would say you should skip this. Its nothing impressive. In fact, I only took once picture of the place.

Heading back to Amman, we decided to go to Reem Shawarma (or Shawerma). Its a hole in the wall side of the road kind of place but so good. If you see a line dont be discouraged, it moves fast.

We parked in front of the place and ate in the car. It was so good, we went back another day too.

    1. If you have been to the Middle East, you will know that no local does this. In fact, the evenings are the busiest periods in the region because locals avoids the heat and stay indoor during the day! Its in climates which are colder in which people chase the sun.
