There are many cool characteristics about Tel Aviv. For one, its a very walkable city, another is its beaches. I would say that they are one of the defining characteristics of the city. Its one of the first things I saw from my hotel room when arriving in the city.

…and here’s a video view from our hotel room:
On the city’s Western side is a long stretch of beaches on the Mediterranean and you can walk the entire strip in about 40 minutes starting from Jaffa beach and ending at Gordon beach near the Sheraton (where we stayed).

One of the places we went to on our first night was a restaurant/beach club at Gordon Beach where we had a drink and watched the sunset.

At the other end of the beach strip is Jaffa beach where we parked our rental car one day and used as a starting point to exploring Jaffa.

Lastly, if you go further north of Tel Aviv, to Herzliya, you will also find some nice beaches there. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton when we came back to Tel Aviv and the beach in this area is called Acadia. Here is a view from our room.

Overall, if you like beaches and city life, Tel Aviv has both and it makes it a great city!
