If you don’t know what currywurst is, or have never had it, you are seriously missing out on one of the best dishes of all time. Seriously! I had this for the first time a couple of years ago when I was in Munich, and now, every time I touch down on German soil, its the first thing I look for. Even when its just a stopover in a German airport, I will hunt down this amazing dish. Currywurst is basically some sausage cut up, and drizzled with a ketchup like curry sauce and sprinkled with curry powder. Usually served with fries.
On a recent trip to Germany, I had it four times in 2 days! The first was a place called Brunnenwirt. I think there is a restaurant, but we had it in a literal hole in the wall beside (look for a sign that says Imbiss or snack). It was to die for!

A few hours later we found ourselves in the Palace Square, and it was a German holiday with lots of street vendors, and of course, we had to get currywurst.

The next day, we visited Heidelberg castle, and there was a concession stand, and of course, currywurst (and a bratwurst).

The best part is eating in while looking at this amazing castle.

By the way, Heidelberg is an amazing place. The views are spectacular. Straight out of a fairy tale.

Later that day we arrived in Frankfurt, and you guessed it, currywurst again….this was in the Liebfrauenberg square. I don’t know if the street vendor is there all the time or only because it was a German holiday.
Anyway, I highly highly recommend you get some whenever you are in Germany, and when you aren’t in Germany, google a recipe and try it out for yourself. Its fairly easy to make the sauce. No need to thank me….
