So good I went back after 3 days…

I previously wrote about the new Italian restaurant Carlino which opened in the Shangri-La Hotel. It was so good that I had to go back 3 days later for lunch, and thankfully, it was just as good and even better than lunch. Its so good, I am going back tomorrow in fact!

We started with Scallops in a garlic parsley sauce that reminded me of escargot; the scallops were in the shell and delicious:

We also had the tonnato. The bread, which is made in house (according to our server, about 99% of the items are made in house which I highly appreciate), was slathered in delicious butter.

For our pasta courses, we had the osso buco ravioli with a sauce that was so delicious with concentrated flavors and thick from being reduced for what I can only imagine was a really really long time with lots of love; and the Bolognese (which I find is a good benchmark for determining if an Italian place is good or not).

The osso buco sauce was so good that I sopped up every last bit with bread! For our main, we had the halibut cooked al cartoccio (in a bag) with a side of Swiss chard.

For dessert, semifreddo which was amazing but I felt like they could put less nuts on top which overpowered the semifreddo. I also love anything with honeycomb.

Overall, this was my second incredible meal at this place. I find their pastas are outstanding and the service was excellent. Can’t wait to go back tomorrow.
