da Costantino – killer views good food

Usually, my rule of thumb is that good views = mediocre food.  This was not the case at da Costantino.  In fact, this place was recommended to us by our driver.  Not once did he mention the views.  He promoted the food as the best in Positano.  It was not until after we arrived, that we were greeted with a window table which opened to this:

WOW!

Anyway, about the meal.  We started off with a Caprese salad which was average.

For my main lunch dish I had the Crespoline Al Formaggio.  The driver told us this was the best dish of his life.  I told him about the great bolognese pasta I had a few month prior, and he told me this would “easily top that”.  It was a great exaggeration.  The dish was good, but a little one note, and after 1 or 2, it was too much.  They were like a baked crepe pasta filled with various cheeses.  If you order this, its best to share.

What WAS outstanding was the grilled shrimp my wife had, and the tomato pasta my son had.  Both were outstanding.  The shrimp had that nice grilled taste.

For dessert, the lemon pie/tart (lemons are famous in this area of Italy).  We enjoyed it so much, we ordered a second one.

The driver had called ahead for us so that is probably why we had the amazing table beside the window.  Service was good.  The food was good.  The view was spectacular.  You should go for the view and food.  Note that our driver dropped us off, and then brought our bags to the hotel.  The restaurant has a house car that will bring you back to your hotel which is a nice touch.  8/10
