Hachi is a very popular and highly rated izakaya in Vegas. The bad news is they only accept reservations by phone from 4:30PM to 2:30AM. The good news, they’re open until 2:30AM. I called and was able to get a same day RSVP and when we arrived, we were promptly seated. This is the type of place I like – they have a regular menu, and then a sheet of daily fresh items.
We ordered a bunch of items including:
The chicken karaage which is larger than most and you have to pay extra for the sauces which we were not informed of, but no big deal. This dish was a thumbs up.

The takoyaki with egg salad was unique and very good. They also have a drink I have never seen before called freezing chuhai which was very refreshing and easy drinking. Its some kind of sochu with frozen fruit. The drink is well balanced and iced cold. Not too sweet, not sour, but just right. If you get a refill without more fruit, you pay less.

We also had scallopes with uni which was as expected.

Next was a bunch of skewers which ranged from good to too dry.

I would also rate the sushi pretty high especially the toro which I got a 2nd round of also:

My benchmark for good yakitori is Zakkushi in Vancouver and I would say most of these fell short. Either cooking temp, texture, or seasoning was not up to that level.
Overall, this is a great place.
- they are open late
- service is good
- they have a daily fresh sheet
- a variety of items with many being memorable
- fun atmosphere
I would go back (in fact I made another RSVP while I was there) and would recommend. One bonus of going to Hachi is its location in the same plaza as Urban Matcha which I previously wrote about. On this occasion, I tried the ube crepe cake which had great texture from the multiple layers of soft crepe with just right, not too sweet, ube filing in between.
