One thing I was particularly excited to eat in Indonesia were sate (satay). Surprisingly, many I tried weren’t that good. However, at Sawah Terrace, one of the restaurants in the Ritz Carlton Reserve Mandapa, I found easily one of the best sate we had on the entire trip (and maybe of recent memory). As a side note, I have been to almost 80 countries now, and have seek out many unique hotel experiences. The RC Mandapa is the second best hotel experience I have experienced to date. I will post about this later, but I highly recommend this place.
Back to Sawah. The meal starts off with a complimentary welcome drink:

This was followed by some complimentary fresh veggies and prawn crackers with sambal (basically, various Indonesian spicy sauces).

One huge plus of Sawah Terrace is the location. Make sure you request a table near the river:
Another unique thing is that they have Balinese wines. I did not know they produced wine in Bali until I ate here. It was not bad:

The first thing they brought out, which you can see in the vid above, was the tuna skewers. The sauce was incredible. Also, the skewers where properly grilled so that they had a nice charred flavor and they were not dried out. Easily the best skewers I had while in Indonesia. After this, we had the mains consisting of ribs, served with the meat jus which was also very tasty.

We also had mee goreng which was a bit disappointing, and a veggie dish that our server recommended:


For dessert, we had fried bananas with cheese which our server recommended and sounded interesting. They were just ok. They also gave us a free dessert for being Bonvoy Members.

Overall, service was flawless like the rest of the hotel. The food ranged from disappointing noodles, to amazing sate. The sate alone is worth going for. Two additional tips. After dinner you can have drinks at the bar with an incredible view:
