SHHHHH – Secret Caviar and Champagne Bar in NYC – Amazing

On a recent trip to NYC, I was strolling around the Meatpacking District after dinner when I came across a Restoration Hardware (RH) Restaurant. Yes, that RH; the ones known for furniture. I first experienced one of their restaurants in Napa Valley. The food was good, but the main draw was the gorgeous setting which is to be expected given they are in the furniture business. Naturally, I wanted to go into the NYC one and check out the interior design and stay for a drink. As I sat in the main dining room, the hostess came over and asked if I wanted “to check out the champagne and caviar bar instead”? Champagne and caviar? Sign me up! She led us down a pair of stairs into what was an even more opulent space that what I had seen upstairs! It was like a secret world in the basement. I don’t think there was any indication upstairs, like a sign, that such a place existed.

The menu offers a wide range of caviar options from lobster and caviar tacos, to more traditional presentations.

We started with the lobster and caviar tacos which were divine. The lobster was coated in a nice rich butter.

Next, some caviar (50 grams); the homemade potato chips were my favorite way to have the caviar.

Overall, the service was pretty good. The space is amazing. The variety of caviar, and taste of the food was really good. I would definitely come back and recommend this place. Its a great spot for before or after dinner drinks, or if you are just craving some caviar any time of the day.
