Birdsong is a 2 Michelin star restaurant located in San Francisco. The tasting menu has a lot of Asian influence and touches. We were seated downstairs in the private dining room and did the Journey Menu. This is a 3 hour experience.

Beside the private room, I saw the fridge where various meats were being aged.

The tasting menu started with a crudo/sashimi type dish:

…and then a crab chawanmushi:

I was there celebrating my daughter’s birthday so I did not take extensive notes. This was the next dish:

Asparagus:

…and then caviar on a pancake assembled tableside, this was really good:

some uni to follow:

…then a play on lettuce wraps…

…and a Wellington type dish…

…the steak…

After the steak, there were 4 desserts.

The one I want to highlight is the cookie. It was the best cookie I had ever tasted. I savored each bite. Truly outstanding.

…the meal ended with a sundae that you can make yourself…
Overall, the food was good; visually and tastewise. The atmosphere was great. Service was good except at the start, I inquired about sake and our server did not know much about the options. She did not even suggest to send the sommelier. I found this odd, especially at a restaurant of this caliber, and since they have a lot of Asian influence in their food. Other than that, the evening was near perfect. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
