According to Wikipedia, SF’s Chinatown is the oldest in North America, and has one of the largest Chinese populations outside of Asia. Every time I go to the city, I make an effort to try a new place for dim sum. On a recent trip, I decided on Dumpling Time which has a few locations around the city. I chose their Thrive City location which is basically located at Chase Center where the Golden State Warriors play. I did this as I thought it would not be as busy. Online people were raving about the XLB. Lets see how it stacks up. The place has a bit of a modern vibe although just like any good place serving XLB, they demonstrate someone making them by hand. We started with the siu mai:
..and then spring rolls and the shrimp toast:
Finally, we had two different kinds of XLB.
Overall, service was average and a bit slow at the end. Other than the shrimp toast, which was unique and very good, everything else was also average. I would not return. If you were in the area and craving this type of food, its an ok place, but I would not make a trip out to just eat here.
