Being an island, Sri Lanka has some great seafood. As an aside, one of the coolest things to see are the stick fishermen in the southern part of the country near Galle.

…and for a great seafood experience, I would recommend you check out Lagoon Restaurant in the Cinnamon Grand Colombo. Once you walk in, you will be greeted by all the fresh fish selections for the day.

After selecting your seafood, you choose your preparation method. We chose prawns and fish.

We also had a side of wok stir fried vegetables which were incredible. They had a proper wok flavor and were seasoned well. Tons of umami. The fish and prawns were delicious and spicy which I appreciated. This restaurant did not “dumb down” the flavors and spice of dishes to cater to what they think foreigners would want. They kept it real. For dessert, we had coconut and mango ice cream.

Overall, the food and service were excellent. I would return and recommend this restaurant.
