My first dinner in Tel Aviv was at Timna. The chef brings elements of food that he experienced from around the world to Israeli food. Its extremely well executed. I went for the 10 course tasting menu and was seated at the chef’s counter. It was an extremely enjoyable evening. The first thing I learned was that Israel produced wine AND ITS VERY GOOD! I had Israeli wine a few times on this trip and it never disappointed. Here was the drink menu and a few bottles.

Now for the food which was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. To give you an example of the international influence, for one of the courses, the chef served a shrimp toast from dim sum. To have this served in Tel Aviv, at a non-Chinese restaurant, and for it to come out delicious and not a fusion disaster, is a testament to the talent of this kitchen team.

Another thing I learned about Israel from dining here, is that many times, they will serve you a shot of Arak with your meal, on the house, and the server will usually take part. L’Chaim!

For dessert, there is a growing trend to move you to a different location in the restaurant, which is welcome after a few hours of sitting.

Overall, the service was VERY good as was the food. I would return and highly recommend you try this place.

Wow, the group shot of arak is fascinating to me. I love that. And free! It makes the guest part of family for that evening.
