The Hardwood Arms lays claim as London’s only Michelin Star pub. I wanted Sunday roast, and this place kept coming up.
Here was the menu.
We started with the Scotch egg which was good but nothing spectacular. I think it could of used more seasoning.
Our server also brought some bread which I believe she said was made with Guinness:
I started with the salmon which were good and fresh. My wife had the mussel bisque which was delicious.
After a long wait (service was generally slow at this place), the star appeared:
The beef was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious especially with the bone marrow jus. The horseradish could of been stronger. The yorkshire pudding was delicious and filled with beef bits and drippings. The potatoes were cooked to crisp perfection. The veggies were also delicious with lots of flavor. The cheese croquettes were good but by the time I got to trying them I was stuffed!
For dessert, I had the marmalade ice cream sandwich which was ok.
Although I would like to try the other Sunday roasts around London, I would come back here for this one too. Despite the slow service and other minor issues, the strength of the roast is that good. 9/10
