La Serena Villas is a boutique hotel in Palm Springs. It is the perfect weekend getaway hotel. If you are driving, you will pull up to the hotel and check in. The attendant will then park your car for you. First impression is the beautiful lobby and the mid-century architecture, popular in the area. You will immediately feel very “California”.
After check in, we were shown to our room/villa which was #19. Upon entering the front gate to the room, you will find an outdoor patio with a clawfoot tub, fire pit and some chairs (and nice views of palm trees). This is where we spent most of the first night. Just relaxing and drinking! In fact, the room was so nice, and we drank so much, that we did not want to leave the room the first night and cancelled our dinner reservations.
Upon entering the room, you will enter this gorgeous living room with a large window and a view of the mountains. The detail is fantastic, from the tiled fireplace to the ceiling!
Next, we were shown the kitchen where we were greeted by three gifts from the owner. #1 a bottle of tequila, a bottle of chilled Rose, and a cheese/charcuterie platter.

The bedroom is next.
Followed by a large beautiful bathroom with another clawfoot tub and huge shower with beautiful tile work (all the bath products are from L’Occitane and the linens are Frette – by the way, there is a Frette outlet at the Dessert Hills Premium Outlet, about 25 minutes from the hotel, where we were able to pick up some Frette sheets for 80% off – I’m never going to Madison Avenue again!) .

Breakfast is included, so in the morning, all you have to do is call. The first day, it arrived within 5 minutes. The second day, it took about an hour and two calls. Anyway, the breakfast arrives in a basket.
…and here are the contents (there is a Keurig machine in the room so you can have coffee at anytime):

In the evening, we had a drink at the Azucar restaurant bar which is on the premises. The cocktails are delicious. I recommend this one, the Spicy Melon, it has smoke from the Mezcal, a bit of spice from the muddled Jalapeno and Chili salt rim, salty from the rim, and sweet from the watermelon. Its a perfectly balanced drink of almost all tastes!
Also at night, the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and lit up nicely.

In the morning, I booked an in room massage. The therapists showed up on time and were fantastic. It was the perfect way to end the weekend.
This hotel was fantastic. From the moment you check in, you will not feel like leaving. The only downside I experienced was the delay/forgotten breakfast the second day and there is no gym (which is not a big deal for a weekend, plus there are gyms in the area and the hotel has free bikes you can use). If you are a couple wanting a relaxing and perfect weekend getaway, this place is one you should highly consider!
