Australian beef is some of the best in the world so naturally, I wanted to eat at a steakhouse in Australia.  Rockpool kept coming up and so Rockpool it was, and it did not disappoint.  It was probably one of the top three steak experiences ever so far, that I have had.

First, the dining room feels like steak.  Its kind of a Great Gatsby 1930’s marble column type place.

For starters, we had Australian oysters, the first time I have had Australian origin oysters.  They were very good.  We also had the bone marrow which was delicious.

For the main, we had a side of corn, which the waiter told us was in season and only available for 2 months out of the year.  Again, I am finding that Australian restaurants have a firm grip on seasonality which is very impressive.  The corn was divine.  Nice big, fresh kernels.

For the mains, we have Australian Wagyu and Oyster Blade.  The Wagyu was well marbled as expected, had a perfect texture (almost like biting a very soft eraser), was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.  The Oyster blade, same.

For dessert we had some petite fours.  These were just OK.

I also had a nice Tasmanian whisky which was nice because I did not know Australia produced any whisky.  The service started well, but then became inattentive.  Not bad, but the original server went to another table, and it seemed like no one was reassigned to our table.  Overall, I would return for the amazing steaks!  9/10.
