Green Olive Cafe and Market; The Best Place to Stop Between Vancouver and Whistler

A couple of years ago when I still had my food company, a hard working couple from Greece worked at the company. One day, they said they were quitting to start a cafe in Squamish. I was happy for them. That business is the Green Olive Cafe and Market.

Last weekend, I decided to take a drive up to Whistler and stop at the Green Olive to say hi and grab some breakfast. For anyone on their way to Whistler, this is a great place to stop as it is about halfway between Vancouver and Whistler, and there is nowhere else to stop for food after Squamish.

I was so happy to see the place buzzing. I spoke to one of the owners, Kostas, and he said that pre-covid, the place would of been even busier with locals AND tourists. Now a days, the tourists are missing.

We ordered a spanakopita, chicken wrap, and 2 coffees. Despite our protest, they did not charge us for the food!

The coffee was good. The wrap was very delicious Very savory, fresh and nice balance with acidity from the olives shining through at the end. The spanakopita was also very good but not made in house. To finish, they invited us to try their home made desserts. My wife selected a chocolate square (not pictured) and it was delicious. Not too sweet.

The great thing about this place is that it is also a market with a lot of great European products. Pasta, olives, oils etc. Of course, the service is outstanding as well. The day I went, both Anastasia and Kostas were there and their daughter was working as well. They have a very high passion for what they are doing and it reflects in the place. I highly recommend you stop by on your way to or back from Whistler!

I had the pleasure of visiting Greece a few years ago and learned about the great entrepreneurial spirit of the people. It is definitely on display at Green Olive!
